Fantastic Beasts releasing tomorrow

So finally, after five years of waiting, we are on the edge of a new future of Potter fandom. The film series, comprising of no less than 5 movies as disclosed by J.K. Rowling during a recent fan event in London, will definitely bring a deluge of new characters, locations, beasts and stories - focus of that being the first wizarding war, where the main players are going to be Dumbledore and Grindelwald.

With a pretty decent critical reception (around 82% at Rotten Tomatoes), Fantastic Beasts is definitely going to be a wondrous ride, filled with dazzling effects and a relevant storyline about intolerance and repression.

I'll be posting a review pretty soon. Till then, do write in comments how do you liked this film.

Lumos!

A New Beginning

It's been almost five years since I posted on this blog. Five years! During all those years, Harry Potter fans have grown and have become adults; and many new people have joined this amazing fandom. Specially here in India, our exposure to western literature and movies has been tremendously increased and all of us are now having multiple Facebook and Twitter feeds serving us with galore of information about things we love.

Personally, in five years, I have graduated, gone to a university, learned a thing or two and started following many other brilliant series like The Lord of the Rings and A Song of Ice and Fire. But I owe a lot to Harry Potter series for these new additions - I am now a big movie fan and write a review blog. If it were not for Potter films and books, I would have not experienced the immense pleasure of reading a vividly realized book or watching a beautifully shot film.

We have a big year ahead, specially for us Potter fans - firstly, a new West-End stage play called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is going to be performed on 30th July in London; the play is written by Jack Thorne, and is based on an original story proceeding the end of Deathly Hallows and shows Harry, Ron and Hermione in their adult lives.

The second bigger thing for us this year is a new film based on an original screenplay by J.K. Rowling, called Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The film is based on adventures of Newt Scamander, the author of titular Hogwarts book, and is set in New York.  The film starts Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne in the lead role, along with Colin Farrell and Ezra Miller. Fantastic Beasts will release on 18th November (Goblet of Fire released on  the same date eleven years ago).

Moreover, J.K. Rowling is constantly active on Twitter and the Pottermore site is being updated more frequently than ever. So, on the whole, all of us have quite a lot of things to look forward to.

I will certainly try to update this site with news relevant to Indian fans, for instance, Indian press-junkets, Hindi trailers and other release information.

So, keep your wands ready, and let the magic begin!
